Damian E. Thomas

Damian E. Thomas is a founding partner of the Firm and maintains a practice in the areas of litigation and corporate and business matters. His litigation practice focuses on representing individuals, corporations and public entities in the areas of commercial litigation, personal injury, wrongful death, and liability defense, in state and federal courts throughout Florida. Mr. Thomas advises and represents corporations and businesses in all aspects of corporate and transactional law, including commercial contracts and agreements, strategy and structuring, and joint ventures and strategic alliances.

Mr. Thomas has been a member of The Florida Bar since 1999, and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Florida and all courts in the state of Florida. In addition, Mr. Thomas is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, as well as the United States Court of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit. He is a member of the Dade County Bar Association (DCBA) and American Bar Association (ABA). Mr. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1996 from the University of Miami and Juris Doctor from The Florida State University College of Law in 1999.

Mr. Thomas has provided representation to corporations, public entities, municipalities, universities and individuals in various significant matters. His representative clients have included: The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida (fourth largest school district in the U.S.); University of Miami, including UM Hospital, Miller School of Medicine, and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (largest private employer in Miami-Dade County); City of Hallandale Beach; City of North Miami; Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc.; Full Circle Health Care, Inc. His experience in multi-party litigation and corporate and business transactions, allows him to serve individual and institutional clients in complex matters.

Mr. Thomas currently serves as president of a premier minority youth mentoring organization, One Hundred Black Men of South Florida, Inc. Further, he currently serves as a board member of the Thelma Gibson Health Initiative (TGHI), which is dedicated to improving lives in low-income neighborhoods with programs for critical needs. He is a member of the board of trustees of the Miami-Dade County Law Library. The library has been in existence since 1937, and as a free public law library is the only one of its kind in Miami-Dade County. The library is the only legal resource available to many pro se litigants and indigent citizens.

Mr. Thomas was selected by the Supreme Court of Florida and served for six (6) years as a director of The Florida Bar Foundation, a charitable organization established by Florida lawyers and the Supreme Court of Florida to provide greater access to justice for the disadvantaged and children of the State of Florida. Mr. Thomas has served as a director of the Dade County Bar Association (DCBA), past President of the Dade County Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Section (DCBA YLS), as well as former Vice President of the Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association (WDFJBA) (formerly Black Lawyers Association).
